Blue Skies

€5.00

Joe Rudi Pielichaty began collecting blue skies in 2008 when, whilst a student in Edinburgh, he found himself bearing feelings of anxiety and melancholy. Longing for an escape, he began cutting out jagged shards of bright sky from the travel pages of newspapers, preserving them in sketchbooks and photo albums as souvenirs of his (wistful) travels. To this day, a piece of the sky is collected every time Joseph needs to remember that behind all grey clouds awaits a blue sky.

Joe Rudi Pielichaty (born in Nottingham, 1987) is a designer, storyteller and navel-gazer. He graduated from Edinburgh College of Art before working as a designer in advertising in Glasgow.
In 2011, Joe relocated to London, where he completed an MA in Visual Communications at the Royal College of Art. Of the experience, Joe described studying at the RCA “requires the perseverance and mentality needed to negotiate the M42 on a bicycle.” Alongside his commercial practice, Joe maintains personal projects which are often introspective and self-evaluating.
He is currently developing a series of picture books whilst advancing his freelance design and illustration portfolio.
