Go Away and Stay Away!
In Go away and stay away! JoeVelluto (JVLT) collects some objects or gestures which were created by man as remedies; their efficiency is a combination of function and superstition. Their instruction manual is by word of mouth and they were passed down by our grandparents becoming part of our culture and traditions.
JoeVelluto (JVLT) is a design and communication studio located in Vicenza (Italy). In 2002 it entered the competition “Opos Under 35”
with “RosAria,” disposable rosary beads made from bubblewrap, the studio’s first official project which soon became part of a number of
permanent design collections both in Italy and abroad.
The following is a list of the studio’s most significant events: in 2005 it presented
the book Salefino: nuovi sapori dal design italiano, Editrice Abitare Segesta; in 2006, together with Cristina Morozzi, it launched the
communications project “Nazionale Italiana Design” alongside a new brand called “Coincasadesign”. The project received a honourable
mention from the international jury of XXII Compasso d’Oro ADI Prize. Since 2006 it has worked on projects for display design and
installations; in 2008 the Coroitalia project “Saver” received a mention in the ADI Design Index.
In November of the same year the studio
presented the exhibition/event “UseLess Is More” – the very first interpretation of the concept of “Adesign”; the title was also used for a
book published by Corraini.
In 2011 presents the solo exhibition “funcooldesign” curated by Oliviero Toscani, Triennale Design Museum,
Milan. JoeVelluto (JVLT) currently works in the publishing sector for companies; it also does consulting as well as artistic coordination and
teaching activities at several Italian universities and institutes.
