Un Sedicesimo 67

In June 2020 Laura Simonati began a series of illustrations entitled Piccoli Posti, a collection of snapshots of real and not-so-real places, drawn in felt-tip pen on paper salvaged from old notebooks, always using the same format: a 5.5x8 cm rectangle.
Originally conceived as a quick exercise in composition, these drawings have become a way of exploring personal and collective imagery. This Sedicesimo comprises a series of Piccoli Posti inspired by the Italian suburbs.

Laura Simonati is an illustrator and graphic designer born and raised in Verona. After graduating from the Faculty of Design and Arts at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in 2017, she moved to Brussels, where she completed a master’s degree at ENSAV La Cambre. She currently works as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer.
